Slovenian Section of IBBY annually presents an award and up to three special distinctions for achievements in the field of reading promotion and quality children's literature promotion.
The Hans Christian Andersen Award is the highest international recognition given to an author and an illustrator of children's books.
The IBBY Honour List is a biennial selection of outstanding, recently published books, honouring writers, illustrators and translators from IBBY member countries. The IBBY Honour List is one of the most widespread and effective ways of furthering IBBY's objective of encouraging international understanding through children's literature.
The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is an international children's literary award established by the Swedish government in 2002 to honour the Swedish children's author Astrid Lindgren (1907–2002).
The IBBY-Asahi Reading Promotion Award is given biennially to one group or institution whose outstanding activities are judged to be making a lasting contribution to reading promotion programmes for children and young people.
The IBBY-iRead Outstanding Reading Promoter Award has been established by the Shenzhen iRead Foundation and IBBY to encourage a real commitment to the cause of reading promotion in the hope of spreading this dedication to others around the globe.
In response to the waves of refugees from Africa and the Middle East arriving in the Italian island, Lampedusa, IBBY launched the project “Silent Books, from the world to Lampedusa and back” in 2012.
The IBBY Collection located at the Toronto Public Library features a large international selection of books for and about young people with disabilities.

Zbirka nastaja bienalno in prinaša slikanice brez besedila z vsega sveta. Zbirka potuje v knjižnico na Lampedusi, kjer slikanice z močjo podobe nagovarjajo tako domače otroke kot otroke begunce, ki so nastanjeni na otoku. V zbirki najdemo tudi odlične slovenske knjige.
V letu 2019 se je na častno listo slikanic brez besedila, torej tistih izbranih slikanic, ki se jih še posebej priporoča v branje, uvrstila tudi slikanica Kje si? Marte Bartolj, ki je izšla pri založbi Miš (2018).
